For St. Patrick’s Festival, wheelchair dancer Maryam Madani will perform two 16-minute work-in-progress shows.
Through spoken word and dance, both performances tell her personal journey from the struggles of being disabled in a world not made for us, towards disability pride, triumph, community and the fight for a better world.
The performance on the 14th will also feature her sister, Tasneem Madani, in a piece which tenderly explores their real-life bond and the hidden dynamic between disabled children and their siblings, which often involve acts of heroic empathy and sacrifice. Featuring otherworldly music by Danny Forde, “Every Thing The Light Touches.”
