We are delighted to bring you a taiko performance that will be a mix of traditional festival pieces from Japan with more modern compositions, for a powerful, high-energy, invigorating bit of craic.
The performance will feature traditional pieces from Japan and more modern compositions, including ‘Fury’, composed by one of our very own members from Brazil. Traditional festival pieces would often be played accompanying festival floats (yatai) and carried along a route, much like our beloved St Patricks Parade.
The pieces often fall into a patter of 3 rounds, each one played faster than the previous, infusing theyatai-carriers with energy to carry their heavy burdens through the streets.
In the same way, we hope that our playing will infuse you with energy to invigorate you and carry you through this festival weekend.
