    Leaflings Family Art

    Workshop with Niamh Sharkey and Owen Churcher.
    Discover the Leaflings, secret guardians of the trees in this interactive art workshop for all the family. Create and draw your own Leafling with Niamh and Owen’s help. Will it be a cherry blossom Leafling, an oak Leafling or a fantasy tree Leafling? You decide!

    Family Story and Art Workshop with Niamh Sharkey and Owen Churcher.
    Among the branches and roots of some of our planet’s most important inhabitants live the Leaflings, the secret guardians of the trees. They live in trees all over the world, from giant redwoods in California to cherry blossoms in Japan. They can teach us a lot about the trees they protect and how special they are. Find out how Niamh and Owen created their book, A Field Guide to Leaflings. Discover where they get their ideas, peek inside Niamh’s sketch books, then participate in a fun drawing workshop!

    Draw some Irish animals with Aga and find out lots of fun animal facts. Did you know baby puffins are called pufflings? What Irish animals are endangered? Find out in this interactive drawing workshop.

    • Owen Churcher

      Graphic design and media tutor working in North Dublin and writer of children's picture book texts. He studied photography and multimedia and worked in a series of bookshops, and in eLearning before teaching.

    • Niamh Sharkey

      Award-winning author and illustrator of children's picture books and former Children's Laureate of Ireland. Her books have won numerous awards including the prestigious Mother Goose Award for the Best New Illustrator and the Bisto Book of the Year.

    • Aga Grandowicz

      Originally from Gdynia in Poland, has been living and working in Dublin since 2006. She is happiest when drawing furry animals and old trees.
      Her book Dr Hibernica Finch’s Compelling Compendium of Irish Animals (with Rob Maguire) won the Children’s Books Ireland Honour Award for Illustration
