    Summoning a Harp Revival

    Young musicians and harpers from across Ireland come together with their dynamic take on Irish Traditional Music today.

    Celebrate St. Patrick’s Festival with over a hundred young musicians from across Ireland as they showcase their dynamic take on Irish Traditional Music and celebrate Ireland’s national emblem - The Harp. Join Music Generation’s young community of harpers, rappers and classical, folk and traditional musicians as they unite to mark the premier of new Irish works.

    • Music Generation

      Ireland’s national music education programme which transforms the lives of children and young people through access to high-quality performance music education.

    • The Harp Collective

      Featuring musicians from Music Generations Louth, Laois and Mayo, will premier new work from prolific composer Michael Rooney. Joined by the acclaimed harper himself, the programme will also include special arrangements from his works performed by Laois Trad Orchestra.

    • Nós Nua

      Louth’s Folk Orchestra, a Comhaltas and Music Generation Louth initiative, where young musicians from across Louth, Meath, Monaghan and Armagh will perform “Causeway”, a suite of new music with Mohsen Amini. Music Generation Mayo’s Harp Collective will take audiences on a thrilling journey of unique traditional arrangements.

    • The Kabin

      All the way from Cork City, the young rap artists in collaboration with harper Donnchadh MacAodh, bring their urban, meaningful and ‘pure daycent’ approach to new and traditional Irish music.

    This programme is presented by Rosa Flannery, Siobhán Buckley, Deirdre Ní Bhuachalla, Gráinne Hambly, Kay Webster and William Jackson with special thanks to Michael Rooney, Mohsen Amini, Donnchadh MacAodha, and Garry McCarthy.
