As the name suggests - the audience is invited to experience the show in one of three postures - Standing, Sitting, or Lying Down. SSLD will present original compositions especially devised to be performed on a bespoke multi speaker surround sound system, housed across the two beautiful rooms of The Space Between - the incredible new wellness and event space on Fenian St, D2. Each show will consist of a sequence of continuous performances by different sound artists, set amongst the wonderful contrast of The Light Room and The Dark Room.
Show A (7pm) Glenn Keating & Linda Buckley
Glenn Keating is a Dublin based multi-instrumentalist , electronic music producer and sound
designer. Known mostly as one half of "gothic pop" band Jape or as a member of Irish sextet, The Redneck Manifesto, Keating has also imparted his love for tones, textures and synthesizers in collaboration with various artists such as Somadrone, I Am The Cosmos, Bell X1and Solar Bears amongst others.
In his own work under the moniker of BoNs Synth Ensemble, Keating seeks to find the place where palpable emotion can be found within electronic and synthesizer music , something that is often thought to be reserved to those engaged in producing music with "real Instruments".
This exploration into changing the perception of electronic as a static or emotionally void platform is the driving force behind his seeking to discover the relationship between the electronic pulse and our emotional impulse.
Linda Buckley is an Irish composer/performer based in Glasgow who has written extensively for orchestra, and has a particular interest in merging her classical training with the worlds of post punk, folk and ambient electronica. Her work has been described as “fantastically brutal, reminiscent of the glitch music of acts such as Autechre” (Liam Cagney, Composing the Island) and “engaging with an area of experience that new music is generally shy of, which, simplified and reduced to a single word, I’d call ecstasy” (Bob Gilmore, Journal of Music).
Music for theatre includes work by Enda Walsh (Bedbound) and film by Pat Collins (Living in a Coded Land and Field Work at the Toronto Film Festival) and Tadhg O’Sullivan (Solas Céad Bliain and To the Moon). Recent and upcoming collaborations include arrangements from This Mortal Coil, remixes for Augustus and John, as well as performances by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Icebreaker, Iarla O’Lionaird, Joby Burgess at the Barbican, Ensemble Mise-En and Crash Ensemble. Linda lectures in Composition at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, holds a PhD from Trinity College Dublin and was RTE lyric FM Composer in Residence 2011/13.

Records and performs as Sunken Foal, Minced Oath, Press Charges and as a member of Ambulance and The Natural History Museum. He started performing live electronics as half of Ambulance at different club nights around Dublin City in the late 90's playing alongside a who's who list of IDM luminaries.
He has had releases on the seminal Planet-Mu, Black Acre, Acroplane, Front End Synthetics, D1, The Fear and Countersunk.org. Championed by BBC1/XFM DJ Mary Anne Hobbs, Today FM’s Donal Dineen, Lyric FM’s John Kelly and the late John Peel, Dunk’s music covers a large area showcasing his deep knowledge of synthesis, software processes, composition and traditional instrumentation.
He often employs algorithmic / generative systems with melody & rhythm resulting in a cascading, kinetic energy in his music. Dunk has performed on many international stages and has collaborated, arranging instrumentation for songwriters Glen Hansard, David Kitt and Carol Keogh. He currently runs the Countersunk label.
We are delighted to also announce the return of Algorithm to SSLD this year to collaborate with the musicians in the creation of two site specific immersive experiences www.algorithm.ie
