RUSSIA: 32nd Irish Film Festival
Established in 2008, by Moscow-based Irish filmmakers Gerard Michael MacCarthy and Johnny O’Reilly, the Irish Film Festival in Russia has become the central element of Irish cultural activities taking place around St. Patrick's Day in Moscow, grouped together under the IRISH WEEK banner.
The 13th Irish Film Festival will be held in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan and, for the first time, Novosibirsk in March. The festival showcases the best of modern Irish cinema. It premieres the best Irish feature, short, documentary, and animated film.
Over 40 screenings of approximately 10-12 new films will take place at the centrally located Karo 11 Oktyabr Cinema, which is the venue for all major Russian cinema premieres, as well as the Moscow International Film Festival. All films are translated and subtitled into Russian.
